Using soft / cream wax for hair removal on a male brow requires careful preparation and technique to ensure effective results while minimizing pain and skin irritation. Here’s what you can expect during your appointment with me:
1. Preparation
- Choosing the Right Wax: I use soft wax for brow waxing.
- Mapping the face: I will then proceed to map your brows where we would be removing hair to clean up the brows. Some men prefer a very natural brow where the brows aren’t lifted and more so, just cleaned up. Some men prefer a more defined and lifted brow but whichever is your preference, this is the stage we would discuss it to ensure I get the right brows for you. At the same time, if you would like colour added to the brow, we would discuss that also.
- Trim the Hair: Ill then ensure the brow hair’s are nice and at an even length and trim down any unruly hairs poking out.
- Cleanse the Skin: I will then wash and dry the area to remove oils.
- Apply Pre-Wax Oil if Not Having a Colour: This will be to help protect the skin, especially when using hard wax.
2. Heating the Wax
- Test the Temperature: I’ll then apply a small amount on my wrist first to test the temperature and then proceed onto your wrist to ensure you’re comfortable.
3. Application
- Apply the Wax in the Direction of Hair Growth: I’ll then use an applicator stick to spread a thin, even layer in the centre of the brows and then a strip is applied to remove. I’ll then go from underneath your brow to the arch and place a strip to remove and continue this going around the brow. I’ll then repeat on the other side.
- If Having a Colour: Prior to the waxing, I will use Vaseline around the brow to protect the skin from staining and I will then do a custom blend of colours to mix up and then apply to the brows. I will then use a Q-tip to remove any excess around the brow. Once the colour has taken, I will then remove the tint and then apply oil around the brow ready for waxing.
4. Post-Wax Care
- Remove Residue: Ill then use a post-wax oil to remove leftover wax.
- Soothe the Skin: I’ll then apply a post-wax lotion to calm irritation.
Prerequisites to note before booking:-
- Cosmetics: If using high grade / prescribed retinol or anything that can make the skin go thin, please do not book a wax as your skin can lift.
- Cosmetic Treatments / Surgery: If you’ve had any recent surgeries or cosmetic procedures like Botox etc, it’s possible the service won’t be able to go ahead but if this does apply, please contact me to enquire further.
- Medication: Some medications like Accutane or certain anti-biotics can make the skin thin so a wax would not be the best option.
- Open Cuts / lesions: If you have an open cut or lesion it may be possible to amend the service but I definitely would not be able to wax over it. If uncertain, please contact me to enquire further.
